The Torch Is Passed – Ed Allen (Brother In Law)

The sun came up this morning but it didn’t seem as bright

As other mornings and I knew the world had lost a light

A light so bright that its demise left shadow in its stead

And even flowers seemed to weep and bow their vibrant heads

The evening sky in contrast now seems strangely more ornate

With vivid stars and twinkling lights as if to compensate

For all the cheer that’s left our days and gone to heavens retreat

To smile on angels as they sing around the glory seat

That light will not return to us and hearts are filled with pain

But alas this sad world’s mortal loss in truth is heavens gain

So let’s remember all the love that smile brought to our day

And carry her within our hearts along life’s shadowed way
