Mary and her family came to serve at our church back in the late 60’s. My first impression was that beautiful, thick, long blonde hair. On top of that she was sweet and nice. And always smiling. Our families grew close like good Lutheran church families do. We watched her go through happy times and […]

One of my favorite times with Mary was a few years back, right after we all retired from Painted Rock. Mary, Maureen, and I went to Colonial Williamsburg and then took a bus to New York City. It was in early December when we went and so cold. Mary and I got some really cute red […]
I was not a longtime friend of Mary but feel blessed to have gotten to be her friend for a short time. I began an email correspondence with her when I learned through our connection in DKG of her cancer at its time of diagnosis. Each time I would write to her she would respond […]
Many years ago St. Timothy Lutheran Church welcomed our dear Pastor D. and his beautiful family. Wife Veda and three beautiful daughters. Gail, Anita and of course Mary. Our whole congregation loved them and they were wonderful years. Veda was our choir director and as the years went by the girls grew up, went to college […]
We had the pleasure of meeting Mary for the first time on Mother’s Day 2015 when both Erick and Erica hosted the Mom’s at a picnic on Shelter Island. Mary’s warm and engaging personality came through the moment we met her. We instantly felt comfortable in her gracious and loving presence and we felt an […]
We all have a special person in our life, someone with whom we connect, someone we love. Someone who, though some time may pass between visits, we can pick right up and feel completely at ease. Someone who makes us smile at just the thought of them. They’re a shining star in our lives. Mary […]
There is in no way possible to tell you about my Mom in words. She lived the “Fruit of the Spirit”. “22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” – Galatians 5:22-23 What I can tell you is about the […]
Saturday, February 11, 2017 “Cank, heffy!” – I pulled off the freeway a little before 10am but I wasn’t expected until 10:30. The 85-mile drive was peppered with gentle rain & pockets of light poking through the clouds, reminding me of the inescapable fact that the sun will always shine again. I enjoyed the stretches […]
Mary will always be remembered for her cheerfulness, her spirit, her energy and her love. Her laughter rings in my memory of her – a vivacious, infectious laugh. She had many friends – no wonder! Mary loved her family and had such an upbeat spirit. She was spiritual and loving, always. I will miss you, […]
Mary was amazing – while most of us could barely manage a wristwatch, Mary was ALWAYS coordinated with matching earrings, bracelets, necklace & sometimes shoes. Her work ethic mirrored her fashion sense- dedicated & meticulous.
Mary has been an inspiration to us all. Her wonderful smile, cheerful optimism, and “can do” attitude clearly illustrate how to lead an exemplary Christian life. Her memory will continue to spur us all into being better people than we think we can be. Mary will be missed but her legacy will long be remembered. […]
Mary worked with us in the Resource Room at Midland Elementary School. Mary worked with us as a team in the Resource Room at Midland Elementary School. We enjoyed her so much. She worked hard, was upbeat, and provided an elegant presence. I learned a lot from her. Dorothy Appleby […]
It’s so sad how we will miss Mary’s dedicated mission in Kenya in 2016. The skills she deposited in our community including some of OWI guardians. The memories of her good work kept the entire OWI Kenya family on their knees for her healing. However, we humbly accept the will of God and thank Him […]
When I think of Mary, I smile. She was always so cheerful and full of joy. Her love for the Lord overflowed and was contagious. She was our Gogo group leader and it will be difficult to replace her. She took her faith and her job seriously and wanted to do everything she could to […]
